Church History

Humble Beginnings

Christian Faith Centre began as a home meeting in March of 1990. From the Troutman's home they moved to a Senior Citizen's Center in downtown Indianapolis and then to a small but adequate building in Lawrence Township. There they met as what was formerly called Pillar of Truth. Growth came slow and steady over the next four years and required a move, resulting in a new location and sharing an existing facility with members of the Bethany Presbyterian Church.

One year later the Presbyterians voted to dissolve their congregation, and the Presbytery of the White Water Valley offered to sell the facility to Pillar of Truth. This would require some creative financing but within one year God showed Himself as not only The God of Abundant Supply, but also of last minute provision!

Mergers

In July of 1995 the Lord of Life Lutheran Church merged with Pillar of Truth and the leadership decided a fresh name was in order. The once two different streams were now united under one new banner, Christian Faith Centre. Citing the leadership, identity and purposes of CFC, that name would prove to keep in finalizing the August 1996 merge with Faith Christian Assembly.

As with mergers of any type, challenges arise and change occurs. It's not much different with a church seeing that "change" is practically synonymous with being a Christian. We adjusted, adapted and even went through some processing. After a period of four years the Lord spoke that it was time to prepare and plan for building.

Growing into the Future

When the Lord says "Go", we do not suspend operations unless and until He says "Stop". As the initial directive was obeyed, the preparation for our new facility moved along. On ground breaking day, in May of 2002, Pastor Ken discovered a copy of the church bulletin from Bethany Presbyterian. In it was the order of service listing their own ground breaking for the current building that housed CFC. Incredibly it was dated May of 1962. This was exactly forty years to the month earlier and took place just as Pastor Ken was concluding a study through the Book of Exodus that very day. We found this to be a divine acknowledgement of being in God’s right place at God’s right time. He had surely put His fingerprint on CFC and what one generation fell short of, another would go in and possess!

We feel that we have been appointed for such a time as this. Those before us have sown to this time and those after, should the Lord tarry, will reap from our sacrifices. We are but a fragment of Christ's work and gathering in the earth. Simply put, we are a local reflection of a global Christianity. Though we are only one part of the complete body of Christ, we are committed to doing our part!

We invite you to share with us in the labor and in the harvest so that "...he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together…" John 4:36
